Bought a $300 air filter and now I'm just mad about why I need it

I live right by the freeway and the air quality alerts have been getting to me, so I finally got a big HEPA filter for the living room. It works, the air feels cleaner, and my partner's cough got better. But I'm sitting here listening to the constant traffic hum and I'm just so angry that I had to drop that much money just to breathe okay inside my own house. Has anyone else felt this weird mix of relief and rage over a fix like this?

My buddy had to get a water filter for his whole house last year, same exact feeling. He was just so pissed he had to pay to fix the water the city messed up.

Ugh, that's the worst part. You're paying to fix a problem you didn't even make, and the noise is a constant reminder. It feels like a tax just for living somewhere.

Hate to say it but that's just how everything is now, you're always paying for someone else's shortcuts. The city cuts corners on water treatment, you buy the filter. The landlord uses cheap pipes, you deal with the noise. It's like we're all just dumping money into fixing the messes that got made before we even showed up.

Yeah, that noise tax is the worst. @vera_johnson9, I got some decent foam earplugs for sleeping and it helped a lot. Not a fix, but it made it less annoying.
