Hit a personal record of 45 single-use plastic bottles in a week and I'm honestly shook
I counted everything from my morning Gatorade to the water bottles from food delivery and realized I probably toss around 2,000 a year without even thinking about it, does anyone track their own waste like this or am I overthinking it?

Hell yeah, that number definitely makes you stop and think. I used to be one of those people who was like "eh, it's just one bottle, no big deal" but then I actually paid attention one week and saw I was tossing like three or four a day from iced coffee and that giant water jug I get from the gas station. Seeing it pile up in the recycling bin really changed my mind, it's not just one bottle it's a mountain of them and now I'm actually trying to reuse some of them for work or just grabbing a reusable when I remember.

Oh man that is a LOT of plastic and I feel you on being shook. I started keeping a jar of all my plastic from one week and ended up with a mountain of takeout containers and water bottles, it was really gross to see physically. @knight.felix is right about the deposit thing but honestly I think the bigger deal is just how crazy easy it is to not notice it piling up until you actually count it. You're definitely not overthinking it, that 2,000 number hits hard because it's real once you start paying attention.

Right after I started tracking mine I found out my family goes through like 15 single-use water bottles a week just from my son's soccer games alone... it adds up so fast you don't even realize until you're staring at a trash bag full of them.
