I stopped recycling for a month to see if it actually mattered and here's what happened

Last month I stopped sorting my trash in Austin to test if my individual effort really makes a dent, and after tracking it I found the recycling truck still picked up the same route and filled the same bins, so has anyone else tried stepping back from eco-guilt tactics to see the bigger picture?

Oh wow, you really stuck it to the system there. I guess the recycling truck drivers are still getting paid to drive the same route whether you toss in a bottle or not, that's the real scandal. Honestly, if we all stopped recycling maybe the trucks would just drive around empty and save a tiny bit of gas, truly revolutionary thinking.

Oh, so the recycling truck still went to the same places? Wow, you really cracked the code there, buddy. I bet the garbage man was so confused without your milk jugs that he had to pull over and rethink his whole career. But seriously, you stopped recycling for a month and the world didn't explode, shocking. I guess your one bag of water bottles wasn't holding up the whole operation like some kind of eco-superhero cape.
