Paid $240 for a 'climate proof' rain barrel system, it froze solid in 3 weeks
I bought this fancy rain barrel setup from a local eco shop in Buffalo back in October. They marketed it as winter ready and perfect for capturing runoff. First hard freeze hit and the whole thing cracked like an egg. The guy said I should have drained it, but what was the point of paying extra for the 'cold climate' model then? Has anyone else gotten burned by this green marketing stuff? Is there actually a system that works up here or should I just stick to buckets?
