Rant: watched a creek turn orange in my backyard last spring and nobody cared
I was sitting on my porch in rural Pennsylvania when the water turned bright orange from old mine drainage after a heavy rain, and the neighbors just shrugged like it was normal. I called the county office and they said it's been happening for 80 years, so what did I expect them to do about it. Has anyone else just hit a wall with local inaction on stuff like this?

Ngl they've been ignoring it for 80 years so maybe it is just normal now.

Man, tell me about it! That orange dog story is wild but I totally believe it. We had a creek behind my house when I was a kid (this was in the 80s) and the water was always this weird rusty color from an old abandoned mine up the hill. My dad used to take us fishing there and the fish looked almost copper colored, haha. Neighbor's white fence turned a permanent shade of Cheeto dust after one good rainstorm. It's been like that for decades so I guess at some point you just accept your yard is going to look like a crime scene from a 1970s cop show.
