Shoutout to the guy in Grand Isle who showed me his garage floor

He lifted his mat and there was a watermark 3 inches up the wall from 2021, and he just shrugged and said the land was here first, so I'm wondering how other folks in flood zones are making peace with that.

Is a 3 inch watermark from 2021 really that big of a deal though? A lot of these spots flood a little every few years and people just dry it out and move on. My uncle's place near the bay got water in it twice and he never lost sleep over it, he just keeps his important stuff up high. Honestly that shrug sounds less like wisdom and more like giving up.
