Tried planting a bunch of native wildflowers in my yard to help bees, but the rabbits ate everything in 2 days

I spent $60 on seeds and spent a whole weekend prepping the garden bed, only to wake up and find it completely stripped. Has anyone else had wildlife totally wreck their well-meaning eco-project?

Miles_burns nailed it, funny how nature always finds a way to wreck our best intentions though.

Did you ever try using chicken wire or some kind of mesh over the bed? I read somewhere that rabbits will absolutely destroy native plants if they can get to them, but they don't bother if there's a barrier. I saw this thing on a gardening show where they planted a whole pollinator patch and then had to fence it off because the deer and rabbits turned it into a salad bar. It's frustrating because you're trying to help the bees, but nature just does its thing, you know? Maybe next time try a little netting or even just some sticks poked in the ground to confuse them.

Agree totally, @wadew51. Had the same problem with rabbits last year. Put chicken wire around my pollinator bed, low to the ground. Worked like a charm. They still hopped by but couldn't get through. Lost a few plants before I figured it out though. Super frustrating when you're trying to help the bees.
