Vent: I paid $60 for a "carbon offset" on my flight to Phoenix and I think it was a scam

The site gave me a receipt with no project name, no location, nothing I could look up, so now I'm stuck between feeling like a sucker and feeling like I should've donated straight to a real group instead. How do you all figure out which offsets are legit and which are just mood badges?
