Wasted $120 on a dehydrator for food waste that barely worked

I bought a cheap $120 dehydrator off Amazon last month to try drying out my kitchen scraps for compost, thinking it'd save space. Thing runs for 12 hours and barely dries a handful of banana peels. I ended up tossing it after three uses. Anyone else fall for a gimmick that was supposed to help with waste reduction?

Yeah that sounds about right for a cheap dehydrator honestly. I was in the SAME boat a few years back, got one of those little round ones with the plastic trays and it was a total joke. What actually worked for me was just using my oven on the lowest setting, like 140 degrees, with the door cracked open. I spread banana peels and veggie scraps on a baking sheet and let them dry overnight while I slept. Cost me nothing extra and dried way faster than that little machine ever did. I also started freezing my scraps in a bag and doing big batches once a week instead of trying to keep it running all the time. Save your money for something else, the oven trick is where it's at.
