Genuinely praising a colleague's presentation flipped our whole team energy

That moment of recognition made everyone collaborate better instantly.

What if that kind of praise just sets unrealistic expectations for every meeting? I've watched teams crumble because constant accolades made average work seem unacceptable. It puts pressure on everyone to perform at that level constantly, which stifles genuine effort. That "better collaboration" might just be people nervously overcompensating.

Blair, has praise ever truly broken a team you've seen?

My buddy's team totally crashed from too much praise.

Nah, I see it differently. I mean, a real compliment can make people want to step up, not freak out. Like when my old crew boss pointed out my clean tile work, it made me try harder on the next job. It's about being genuine, not setting crazy standards.
