Had a guy at the gas station in Phoenix argue with me for 10 minutes about whether diesel pumps could fit in a regular car
He was dead serious and even pulled out his phone to show me a photo of his cousin's truck, so I just nodded and paid for my gas.

Their argument about whether the nozzle actually fits is kinda beside the point though. I'm more curious about what he expected to prove with that photo of his cousin's truck. Was he trying to say the cousin intentionally put diesel in a regular car, or did he just not understand that trucks often take diesel?

Him being wrong is actually a pretty fair assumption. Diesel nozzles are bigger, they literally won't fit into a regular gas filler neck. I've seen people try to force them in and crack the plastic housing. So if he was arguing that you CAN'T do it, technically he's got a point right out of the gate.
