Heard a guy at the bar say dishwashers are just fancy garbage disposals
At O'Malley's last Tuesday, some older fella was telling his buddy that pre-rinsing plates is a waste of time because the machine just grinds it all up anyway. I've always scraped and rinsed every single plate before loading mine, and my Bosch is going on 8 years without a clog. Is that actually true, or is he going to end up with a flooded kitchen in a few months?

That "fancy garbage disposal" guy is half right about the grinding part, but he's missing the real job of the filter. It catches the chunks so they don't recirculate onto your glasses, not just to keep the drain clear.
