Hot take: I tried using an egg slicer for mushrooms and it was a disaster
So I saw this hack online about using an egg slicer to quickly chop mushrooms for a stir fry I was making last Tuesday. I loaded up 6 mushrooms and slammed the slicer down, but the stems just crushed and the caps flew everywhere in my kitchen. Did anyone else try this and actually get it to work without making a mess?

The stems crushed and caps flew everywhere thing sounds about right. I think an egg slicer just isn't built for the uneven shape and firmness of mushrooms.

Give them a chance with some small mushrooms though, I've had pretty good results with button mushrooms. You just have to pick ones that are all the same size and line them up in the slicer carefully. The key is pressing down slow and steady not slamming it like you're mad at it. I can get like 8 perfect slices from one mushroom this way, way faster than using a knife.
