Met a guy at a bus stop who gave me the best job advice I ever got

I was waiting for the 7:15am bus last Tuesday in Austin and this older guy started chatting about the rain. He said he had been a mechanic for 40 years and the secret was just showing up 15 minutes early every day. He told me most people fail because they are always rushing in late. It sounds so simple but I tried it at my warehouse job and my boss actually noticed within a week. Has anyone else gotten life changing advice from a random stranger?

Heard a similar story from my friend who got marriage advice from a random guy at a laundromat.

Guess it turns out the secret to getting ahead isn't some fancy hustle, just not being late like everyone else. Maybe the real life hack is just catching a bus in the rain and hoping the universe sends you a mechanic with good timing. I mean, sounds like you got your money's worth out of that bus fare.

Tried showing up early to everything for two weeks and got promoted to shift lead within a month.

My cousin got life advice from a TSA agent once. Told him to always wear slip on shoes through security. Changed his whole travel game.
