My 10 year old blender finally died mid-smoothie yesterday
Was making my usual morning smoothie around 7am and heard this weird grinding noise, then smoke. The motor just gave up. It was a cheap Oster from Target, probably got my money's worth out of it. Had to finish blending with a fork and a lot of elbow grease. Anyone else lose a kitchen gadget at the worst possible time?

Oh man that's rough... mine gave out right when I was making a frozen margarita for a party once. Had to mash ice with a potato masher while everyone waited. Love that you tried to finish with a fork though, that's dedication.

Did you ever get that potato masher back from your friend or is it still on the loose somewhere?

Oh man, that fork thing really got me. I did something similar once with my old hand mixer. It gave up mid-batter for cookies. I ended up using a whisk for like twenty minutes. My arm was sore for two days. But I bet your smoothie was chunkier than mine. At least you got some exercise out of it, right?
