Pro tip: That quick "thank you" message I sent after a job interview actually got me hired

I interviewed for a data entry spot at a small accounting firm in Des Moines 6 weeks ago. After I sent a 3 sentence thank you email, the hiring manager told me I was the only candidate who bothered to do that. Have any of you gotten a job just because of a follow up like that?

6 weeks later and that thank you note is still doing overtime in their mind huh. @wood.eric is right though, its not just about the gesture its about showing you actually care when everyone else is too lazy to type 3 sentences. I once sent a thank you email after a phone screen and the recruiter said it was the only one they got that week. Like bro, if you cant even copy paste a "appreciate the time" message what are you even doing in the job market. That small thing probably saved you from the pile of no shows.

Ha, right? Like imagine ghosting someone for weeks and then dropping a "thx" like that's gonna fix everything. Honestly at this point a thank you note is basically a band-aid on a broken leg. But hey, it's still better than nothing I guess. If you can't show up on time at least show up with a little appreciation.
