Question about asking for help on this forum

I was trying to fix a leaky faucet in my kitchen last week and got stuck. I posted here asking for advice but just said 'my faucet is broken, help.' The only reply I got was 'be more specific.' So I tried again and wrote 'the hot water handle on my Moen faucet drips after I turn it off, and I already changed the cartridge.' I got three helpful answers in an hour. It made me realize people skip the basic details that make an answer possible. How do you make sure your question has enough info the first time?

Honestly, I see where you're coming from but sometimes you just need to shout into the void first. Not everyone has the brain space to write a full report right off the bat. Tbh, asking the bare minimum question can actually be a good way to see if anyone's even around to help before you waste time on all the details. It's like testing the waters. If someone replies asking for more info, then you know it's worth the effort to type it all out.

Forgetting the details is like calling 911 and just saying "help.

People forget that a good question is a time saver for everyone. Like west.richard said, it's a 911 call, you gotta give the address. I always pretend I'm explaining the problem to a friend who can't see it.
