Question about paying for a professional resume review

I dropped about $300 on a resume review service last month because I was stuck in a job search rut. The person I worked with basically tore my old resume apart, said it was too wordy and full of buzzwords that hiring software ignores. They rewrote the whole thing to focus on specific numbers and results, like 'cut project costs by 15%' instead of 'managed budgets efficiently'. It felt harsh at the time, but I got three callbacks in two weeks after sending out the new version. I'm still not sure if it was the resume or just luck, but it got me moving. Has anyone else tried a paid review and did you think it was actually worth the cash?

Actually, that's exactly what a good resume should do.

So what does that make my resume, a warning label? Guess I should ask @the_elliot for a rewrite.

A warning label is just honesty with bad marketing. Maybe we all need resumes that tell the truth instead of just what sounds good. Why do we pretend our work history is a perfect story anyway? Elliot's got the right idea, even if it stings a bit.
