Saw a stat that 40% of adults in Ohio can't cover a $400 emergency - is that really true?
I was reading a financial report last night and saw that number, and it just hit me differently because I grew up near Dayton and know a lot of people still there. My aunt had to borrow $300 from me last year for a car repair, so maybe it adds up, but I always thought people were just being dramatic about money. Has anyone else run into a stat like that that made you question what you assumed about your own town?

Man, that stat hits close to home... guess that's why I've been eating ramen for three days straight after my truck broke down. Nothing like a surprise bill to remind you how fast "savings" turns into "just barely scraping by.

Just barely scraping by" is the new normal.

Three days of ramen because your truck broke down? That's brutal. A truck is basically a lifeline for most people, not having it working can mess up everything. The way you said "savings turns into just barely scraping by" hit me hard. One broken part and suddenly you're eating cheap noodles instead of real food. Makes me wonder how many people are just one breakdown away from being in the same spot.
