Shoutout to the guy at Lowe's who talked me out of renting that floor sander

I was dead set on refinishing my oak floors myself after watching a few YouTube videos. He straight up said 'you'll ruin those boards in 10 minutes' and pointed me to a pro who did the whole house for $800. Anyone else ever get saved by a random employee who actually knew their stuff?

Oh man, that employee is a legend. I once tried to paint a room without priming first because a YouTube guy said it was fine. Ended up with a streaky mess that looked like a toddler did it. Had to call a pro anyway, and he charged me extra for the 'textured surprise' I created. So yeah, that Lowe's guy saved you $800 and a lot of swearing, I bet.

totally agree with ya @the_claire. i tried to fix a crack in my drywall with spackle once and no tape. youtube said it was fine for small ones. lol nope next morning it was a giant crack again plus the spackle fell out in chunks. had to cut out the whole section and redo it with mesh tape and mud. waste of a whole weekend and like 40 bucks in materials i ruined. that lowes employee probably kept you from a similar spiral into diy disaster.

and that's why i always google stuff three times before touching anything, but sometimes you still end up with a textured surprise anyway.
