That $60 smart plug I bought to cut phantom power use

I picked up a Kasa smart plug six months ago to kill standby power on my TV and soundbar. It shaved about $8 off my monthly electric bill so far, which is actually more than I expected. Has anyone else seen real savings from actively shutting down electronics versus just leaving them?

Man, I used to think those smart plugs were just another gadget people bought for no reason... but seeing real numbers like that actually changed my mind. That standby power really adds up when you look at it over a whole year, way more than I figured. I might have to grab one just for my old stereo setup that sits there glowing all night.

My Kasa plug was $25 on Amazon, not $60. The $8 monthly savings is legit though, I track our home energy usage with a little monitor. I actually set mine to kill the TV strip completely during work hours, then fire back up at 5pm. The real win was my old cable box that drew 35 watts doing nothing - that one plug cut my basement entertainment area by like 40 percent.
