That meal kit subscription I signed up for cost me $200 in wasted food

I finally admitted last month that I was wrong about those meal kit boxes. I thought they would save me time and help me cook more at home after my shifts at the diner. But after four weeks I had thrown out half the ingredients because the recipes took longer than promised. The produce would go bad by day three since I only cook twice a week. I lost about $200 total between the subscription cost and the spoiled food I had to trash. What convinced me to cancel was finding a bag of wilted spinach I forgot about for a second time. Has anyone else found these boxes just don't work for people with irregular schedules?

@oliverhernandez it was actually more like $180 if you count the subscription separately from the produce.

Wait, you lost $200 total including the spoiled food on top of the subscription cost? That's just throwing money straight into the trash can (literally). I can't get over the bag of wilted spinach though - I've done that same thing with a bag of arugula and it just hits different when you open it and see the slime. Meal kits really do not account for people who work crazy shifts or only have energy to cook twice a week, which is most of us honestly. They're basically designed for someone with a 9-to-5 and a perfectly predictable grocery schedule, which is so not real life.

$200 gone plus rotten greens is brutal man, that's like burning cash and watching it stink up your fridge. Ngl I'd be sick over that bag of slimy spinach too.
