The day I flooded my basement trying to fix a washing machine hose
I was in my laundry room last Saturday with a pair of pliers and a new $12 hose, but I forgot to shut the water off first and ended up spraying water everywhere for a solid 3 minutes before I found the valve... has anyone else had a simple repair turn into a disaster like that?

Bro shut off the valve first lesson learned the hard way. Been there with a toilet fill valve that exploded on me, water everywhere and I couldn't find the main shutoff for ten minutes. That $12 hose saved you hundreds of dollars in water damage though so small win. Just think of it as a rite of passage for anyone who owns a house. Better to flood the basement than leave it and come home to a lake.
