The day I stopped overthinking light bulbs and just bought the basics

For like 5 years I would stand in the lighting aisle at Home Depot reading every box about lumens and color temperature and bulb life. Last week I was at the one on Broadway in Denver and my wife just grabbed a 4 pack of 60 watt equivalents for 8 bucks. I thought they would be too dim or look weird but honestly I cant tell the difference from the expensive ones I used to get. It hit me that I was wasting time and money on features I never actually used. Now I just buy whatever is cheap and has the right base. Has anyone else stopped caring about specs on something they used to obsess over?

Hang on, you just grabbed a 4 pack of 60 watt equivalents for 8 bucks? I had no idea you could get bulbs that cheap. I've been spending like 12 dollars for a single LED bulb at the hardware store because I thought the cheaper ones would flicker or burn out in a week. It honestly makes me feel a little foolish for all the time I spent reading the back of those packages. I guess most of us just get talked into thinking we need something fancy when the basic stuff works just fine. You might have just saved me a lot of money on my next trip to Home Depot.

@sean_cooper58 same here, I was dropping $15 on single bulbs until I grabbed a cheap pack last month and they work fine.

You ever go back and look at those old receipts to see how much you wasted?
