The sink overflow in my studio changed how I mix glaze
Last Tuesday I was mixing a fresh batch of glaze in my ceramics studio in Austin and got distracted by a phone call. When I came back, the sink had overflowed because I left the water running while measuring out 3 pounds of silica. The glaze slurry spilled all over the floor and ruined a box of bisque pieces I had drying underneath. After cleaning up for an hour, I realized my whole setup was too risky. I now use a digital scale on a rolling cart away from any water source, and I measure everything into labeled buckets before starting. It costs me an extra 10 minutes per batch but I haven't had a single spill since. Has anyone else had a workshop accident that forced you to rethink your entire process?
