My 2019 pitch was all about the free kombucha. Now I just brag about wearing sweatpants to stand-up meetings. It's a downgrade I can get behind.

That "work from anywhere" pitch is a huge shift. My old company tried to force everyone back to cubicles and lost half the team. Flexibility just became the real perk.

Wait, they actually tried to FORCE everyone back to cubicles? That is wild to me. Especially in 2019, when the writing was already on the wall about what people wanted. Half the team gone in one move, that has to be a record for a bad decision. I bet that CEO thought they were being tough or something, but they just showed everyone they didn't get it at all. You really can't buy that kind of reputation hit.
