Can we talk about the push for remote work in Austin tech?

I thought forcing everyone back to the office 3 days a week was a bad move, but after seeing my team's project speed drop by half when we went fully remote last quarter, I'm starting to think some in-person time is actually needed for complex work.

Man, my own focus drops by half just trying to find a quiet spot in my house. I was all in on remote work until I spent a whole week on a video call that could have been a 20 minute whiteboard session. There's just some messy, creative problem solving that needs people in a room, even if it's just a couple days. My team's best ideas still come from those random coffee machine talks we can't seem to copy online.

Read a study showing hybrid teams often get stuck in meeting prep hell, losing that quick back and forth.

But how do you even measure that lost creative time? Is it just a feeling or can you actually track the difference?

Wait, your team's speed actually dropped by half? That's wild. Parker_palmer44 is right about those random talks being impossible to copy online. Sounds like a messy middle ground is the only real answer.
