Actually, a long hiring process can be the planning. Sometimes you find out the local talent pool for a specific skill is tiny, and your plan has to change right then. Rushing to fill the seat just to meet the old timeline is what really stacks up problems. A good plan can handle finding out the facts on the ground are different.
