Hot take: that guy at South by Southwest who pitched me his fake app idea still bugs me
I was grabbing a taco at that food truck on Rainey Street back in March and this dude in a Patagonia vest just walks up mid bite and starts telling me how his app "connects people through shared aura levels" or something crazy like that. He had no prototype, no user base, just a landing page with a stock photo of a sunset. I told him I work in construction and he got all snobby saying brick and mortar is dead. Has anyone else had random strangers pitch them vaporware at lunch?

That "brick and mortar is dead" line always makes me roll my eyes. I actually heard a podcast recently where a guy who runs a hardware store in Austin talked about how people are sick of just buying stuff online. They want to touch things and ask real people questions. I bet that app guy is still pitching his aura idea to random people on the bus.

Nodding along with you @janah83, I feel that hardware store guy in my bones. I'm the kind of person who will drive 20 minutes to a Home Depot just to pick out a single screw by hand because I don't trust the pictures online (which is really dumb, I know). People underestimate how much we just want to be sure about what we're buying, especially when it's not returnable. And hey, maybe that app guy is onto something, but I'd still rather hold a hammer than download an aura.
