I finally realized I was pricing my electrician work way too low for 3 years

A commercial client straight up told me last month that my bid was suspicious because it was 40% under everyone else. I thought I was being competitive but really I was just hurting my own business and making people think I was cutting corners. Has anyone else had a customer basically tell you that you're too cheap?

@jana_shah sounds like you've never had a client look at your bid like you're running a pyramid scheme. Getting straight up told your work looks suspiciously cheap is a different vibe than showing confidence. Guess we all learn the hard way that looking too good on paper makes people wonder what you're hiding.

Wow, I actually see it the opposite way - being upfront about competitive pricing shows confidence.
