I keep hearing Austin is a great place to start a tech company, but my experience getting a simple city permit for a small office renovation was a 4-month nightmare.

Ugh, I saw a whole article about that. The city's business hype doesn't match the permit office reality at all.

Read a piece in the local paper about how their "streamlined" permit system is basically just a website that doesn't work half the time. They brag about it being pro business but it's just talk.
