I used to think the Austin tech scene was all hype until a meeting last Tuesday.
I was delivering a package to a small office on South Congress and got stuck talking to the founder for 20 minutes. He showed me their software, which helps local food trucks track supplies in real time, and explained how three of his first hires came from meetups at Radio Coffee. It wasn't about venture capital or big exits, just solving a real Austin problem with a tight team. Has anyone else found that the smaller companies here have the more interesting stories?

What's the best small company you've met lately?

Best small company? The one that finally fixed my wifi after three visits. Their customer service was so bad it felt like performance art. Honestly, meeting a plumber who shows up on time feels like finding a unicorn these days. That's the real small business success story.

Found a local bakery that remembers my order and always throws in an extra cookie.
