Just saw a report that Austin tech job postings dropped 18% last quarter

I was looking through the Austin Chamber's quarterly tech report yesterday, and the number for Q2 really caught me off guard. It showed a clear drop from the previous quarter, which wasn't the trend I expected. Found it on their public data page under 'Tech Talent Indicators'. Has anyone else noticed this shift in hiring around town, or is it just certain types of roles?

Check the "paused" new hires, @taylorshah, they must have hit the button so hard it broke. My guess is the report just measured the sound of all those job posting windows closing at once. Feels less like a pause and more like someone pulled the fire alarm and the hiring managers never came back. Guess we're all just waiting for the all clear that might not come.

Wow, that's a big drop. I saw some companies pausing new hires until after summer.

Yeah, "pausing new hires" is the polite way to put it. My resume has been getting the digital equivalent of a door slammed in its face. Feels like the party's over and I showed up late.
