Noticed a lot of local devs still don't use version control for side projects

Was talking to a guy at SXSW last month who was managing his startup's code by emailing zip files to his cofounder. I thought he was joking but he was serious. I used to think git was overkill for small stuff too til I lost a whole weekend of work changing a config file and couldn't undo it. Now I just commit everything even my dog grooming website. Has anyone else run into this around town?

Yeah just start with git init even for toy projects. A single branch and a few commits saves you from those oh shit moments every time.

Ngl zip files are way simpler when your projects are tiny and it forces you to keep things small.
