Our Austin SaaS signups jumped 40% in 3 weeks after we deleted one field from the form
We run a small B2B tool out of East Austin and our signup page had a "company size" dropdown we added years ago, just because. Back in March we looked at the numbers and saw that roughly 1 in 3 people bailed on that page, so on a Tuesday we killed the field and changed nothing else. Three weeks later signups were up 40% and, weirdly, the quality of leads did not drop at all. We had been guessing that info mattered for sales, and it turns out we could just ask later on a call. Has anyone else cut a form field and seen a jump like that, or was it just timing on our end?
Ha, shocking, a form field nobody asked for was scaring people off. Every extra thing you make someone do before they get any value is a chance for them to walk. Company size was never something you needed up front, you needed it eventually, and asking on a call is the right time. People hate giving up info before they even know if your tool works for them. That 40% bump is probably real and not timing, since one in three bailing on a single dropdown is way too high to be random. Now go look at whatever other field you are attached to and ask yourself if you can live without it.
