Remote vs in-office for dev teams: which actually works better here in Austin?

I've been bouncing this around in my head after two different projects went totally different ways. My last contract gig had everyone in the office on Congress Ave, and we shipped a major update in 6 weeks flat. The whole team just talked through problems over coffee, you know? But my current remote team (scattered across Austin and some folks in San Marcos) is taking way longer on a similar sized project, like 10 weeks and counting. The communication lag is real even with Slack and Zoom, but nobody's burning out on the 35 commute either. Which one do you guys see actually winning out for tech businesses here in the long run?

Congestion is spelled with a g, but I agree the commute argument matters more in Austin.

Totally feel you @jason_lewis3 lol. I shifted my work start time to 6:30 AM for a year and it cut my drive from 45 mins to 15, made a huge difference.

That 6:30 start is brutal but man, saving 30 minutes each way is totally worth it. Props for sticking with it a whole year.
