Sat through 6 coffee meetings on Rainey St before I figured out I was pitching the wrong person
For the last 5 months I kept booking intro calls with founders and VPs over on Rainey St, and every one of them ended the same polite way with no follow up. Last Tuesday a guy at a small SaaS company in East Austin finally said flat out that he was not the one who signs off on anything, and he pointed me to their ops manager instead. How do you all figure out who the actual decision maker is before you burn a meeting?
Took me way too long to learn that the person with the fancy title is not always the one holding the checkbook. Try asking them straight up in the first email who else needs to be in the room for this to move forward, and watch how they answer. Did that ops manager actually turn into a real deal for you or just another dead end?
