Shoutout to the weird Travis County permitting portal that ate a full Tuesday of my life

I spent 9 hours trying to get a simple business license filed because the portal kept rejecting my LLC's EIN, which my accountant said was a common glitch they've seen for months.

That portal crashed three times while I was uploading my site plan.

Ugh, three times is brutal. I tried to submit a simple deck permit last week and it froze on the final "review" page after twenty minutes of filling stuff out. Had to restart the whole process from scratch.

Oh come on, it's a free public service! They're probably dealing with thousands of files at once. Maybe your site plan was just a huge file and it slowed things down for everyone. We should be glad the town even has an online portal now instead of making us mail paper copies. A little patience goes a long way.

Yeah I get that but three crashes is rough. @hollyl25 you're right that it's a free service but they could at least put a save draft button on there so people don't lose everything. Next time try saving your site plan as a smaller pdf before uploading, that trick worked for me after the first time it failed.
