Showerthought: spending $50 on a CRM saved me $200 in missed follow-ups

I used to track client leads in a spreadsheet and lost at least three solid gigs last month cause I forgot to call back. Dropped $50 on a basic CRM tool for my small web dev shop and now I catch every lead within 12 hours. Anyone else find cheap software paying for itself fast?

My buddy runs a landscaping crew and swore by a paper calendar. He forgot to call a guy back who wanted a full patio install and lost like $2,500 to a competitor who answered first. He finally got a $20 a month CRM just for reminders and texts, and now he says it pays for itself every single week. Some lessons hurt to learn but at least mine wasn't that expensive.

Oh man, I feel this so hard. I was using a sticky note system for my freelance clients and missed a follow-up with someone who was ready to sign a contract. It stung real bad. A cheap little CRM changed everything for me too, I think I paid like $30 for a year and my next client paid for it three times over. Its funny how the small stuff makes such a big difference in keeping things from slipping through the cracks.
