Update: That AI hiring tool cost my startup $15k and we got zero hires
We signed up for a new AI hiring platform last quarter, thinking it would cut our tech recruiting time in half. The sales guy promised it would find 'perfect fits' for our Austin software dev roles. We paid $15,000 for a year-long contract. After six months, it sent us over 200 candidates, but not one passed our technical screen. The matches were all wrong for our stack. We're back to old-school networking and referrals now. Has anyone found a recruiting tool that actually works for Austin's specific tech talent pool?

What stack were you looking for?

Saw a thread on Hacker News about people moving back to simpler setups. Honestly the whole "full stack" thing seems super bloated now. A lot of folks are just picking a solid backend like Go or Python and using HTMX for the frontend. Keeps everything in one language and cuts out a ton of complexity. Feels like the pendulum is swinging back from the JavaScript-everywhere approach.

But then you're stuck with server side rendering for everything, @milarodriguez. Good luck building a truly interactive app without a real frontend framework.
