Walked past the old Zach building on 6th last week, half the floors are now AI startups
I counted 7 different company signs in the lobby where there used to be one ad agency. Is everyone in Austin suddenly training models, or did I just miss the memo?
I once got invited to a "networking brunch" at one of those spots and spent the whole time nodding while people said things like "fine tuning" and "inference costs." I still don't know what half of it meant and I work in tech adjacent stuff. Seven signs in one lobby is wild though, that ad agency must have packed up fast. My best guess is the rent got cheap and every founder with a GPU credit card moved in.
