Double-checking on a Civic I did last month saved my hide

I painted a 2017 Honda Civic in Milano Red, looked perfect when it left. Saw it come back for a different repair yesterday, and the blend line on the passenger door was ghosting through clear already. Found out I'd rushed the sealer coat only 15 minutes after primer, didn't let it flash off fully in the bake cycle. Anyone else ever get burned by a perfect initial look that fades out later?

Classic "looks good now, comes back to haunt you later" move. I did that on a Mustang once, laid down the color way too hot on a cold panel, looked flawless when it left the booth. Customer rolled it back in six weeks later with a weird tiger stripe fading through and I had to strip the whole quarter down again. Nothing like eating a redo because you got impatient and skipped the breather.

Wait, you had a good paint job actually do that weeks later? I always figured if it looked fine coming out of the booth you were in the clear, but hearing about a tiger stripe showing up that far down the road is a real eye opener. That definitely makes me rethink skipping the cure time just to save an afternoon.

Is "ate a redo" really that bad though?
