Factory welds vs. my welds, who is really at fault here?
Last month a 2018 Silverado came in with a cracked frame rail at the factory spot weld, and the customer blamed my repair from 3 years ago over 200 miles away in Fresno. I fixed it under warranty to shut him up, but it got me thinking: are we doing ourselves a disservice chasing perfection when OEMs ship junk welds from the line? Has anyone else taken heat for a failure that was clearly a factory defect from day one?

Ugh, factory welds are such a joke sometimes! You shouldn't have to eat the blame for their sloppy work from day one. Been there too, it's brutal.
