I finally fixed a door gap that had been bugging me for 3 months in Columbus

Spent last Saturday realigning a 2017 F-150 driver door that sat 4mm off at the bottom, and after shimming the striker and adjusting the hinges twice it closed like butter, has anyone else wasted a whole day on a gap that customers never even notice?

Wait, did you end up adjusting the hinges with the door on or off... that makes a huge difference on these trucks. I've found that if you don't mark the hinge positions first, you're just chasing your tail. Also, that 4mm gap, was it worse at the front or back edge of the door... that tells you which hinge is actually off.

Man, I heard the strike plate shim trick works way better than messing with hinges on those newer Fords.
