I finally got a stubborn door ding out with a glue puller after the suction cup failed three times.

Actually, glue pulling is the main method for paintless dent repair... a pro would use a glue puller kit, not a suction cup.

Man, I tried a glue pull kit on my car door last year and it was a total mess. Left sticky gunk everywhere and I still had to pay a pro to fix my botched job. @the_claire is right, you can really make it worse. The suction cup trick only worked for me once on a huge smooth spot, not a normal ding. Honestly, watching a few videos on real paintless dent repair tools showed me how much skill it actually takes.

Glue pulling is a bad idea for most people. You can easily damage the paint or leave a mess that's worse than the dent. Those suction cups fail because they're meant for smooth surfaces, not dings. A professional would use a proper dent removal kit or just do paintless dent repair. Trying to fix it yourself often costs more money in the long run.
