Yeah, joel_clark37 is spot on. I notice this pattern everywhere, like with the mechanic who explains what's wrong with your car in plain language because he wants you to understand. Or the server who checks back just once to make sure your meal is right, not because they have to. It's in the small, honest actions that show someone is really into their work. You can't fake that kind of quiet pride.

Was your friend's barista like that? My buddy had one who remembered his complicated coffee order every time without writing it down. Joel_clark37 would probably say she actually liked her job.
