My uncle the old body guy swore by Bondo but I tried Rage Gold on a '76 C10 fender last month and it finished out way smoother

He said Bondo was fine for everything and I was wasting money on the fancy stuff, but after three coats and still having pinholes I had to sand back down and redo it with the Rage Gold, has anyone else found the extra cost actually saves time on tricky panels?

Tbh I think your uncle is stuck in the old ways. Bondo was good back in the day when there wasn't much else around, but Rage Gold is a whole different animal. I had the exact same problem on a '90 Mustang fender - kept chasing pinholes with Bondo and it was driving me nuts. Switched to Rage Gold and it smoothed out in two light coats, no pinholes at all. The extra cost is totally worth it when you factor in the sanding time you save, especially on those tricky panels with body lines.

Did you try using less hardener or was it just the filler itself?

I actually read somewhere that the hardener ratio is super sensitive with different brands, like even a tiny bit too much can cause pinholes. My buddy was telling me he switched to a different filler just to get away from that issue.
