Paint gun comparison - Iwata vs Sata on a Chevy Silverado

Tbh I always used Sata guns on everything, but last month I borrowed an Iwata from a buddy for a full Silverado repaint. Ngl the fan pattern was way more even right out of the box, no tweaking. Cut my orange peel by a solid 60% on the clear coat. Has anyone else switched and noticed a big difference?

3 years back I dropped $800 on a Sata 5000 and thought I was hot stuff until I got my hands on an Iwata LPH400. The first time I sprayed metallic on a fender I swear the flake laid down so flat I almost cried (okay not really but you get it). Maybe I'm just a lousy painter but that Iwata saved me from sanding out runs every single coat.

Wait, you spent eight hundred bucks on a Sata and still got runs? That makes me feel way better about the Harbor Freight special I've been using, honestly. I tried upgrading to a Devilbiss once and sprayed a hood so bad it looked like a textured ceiling. Maybe it's not just the painter but the gun, but man, I spent three weeks sanding that thing flat... not my finest moment. Your Iwata story gives me hope, though. Maybe I should just accept that I'm the problem and keep using cheap guns until I magically get good.
