Shop debate: I rushed a 2019 Civic bumper job in 4 hours, and my painter won't let it go
Last Tuesday we had a 2019 Civic in for a rear bumper repaint and I pushed it through in about 4 hours so the customer could catch a flight out of Tampa, and honestly the finish looked fine to me. My painter swears we should have kept it overnight for the clear to cure right, and now half the shop thinks speed jobs always bite you later while the other half says the customer pays for turnaround. Where do you all draw the line between getting a car out fast and doing it the way you know is right?
Watched the same thing happen at my kid's school fundraiser where they rushed the t-shirt order and half the prints peeled after two washes. Fast turnaround feels great until the thing falls apart and then it's your name on it, not the customer's flight schedule. Four hours for a full bumper respray plus clear is pushing it, that clear needs time to flash and cure or you're begging for solvent pop and dull spots down the road. The customer pays for a job, not a race, and a comeback costs you way more than one night of shop time.
