The old guys at Vinnie's shop knew their stuff, now I get it
Stopped by Vinnie's Auto Body in Newark last week to grab some 2K primer and ended up talking to one of the retired painters who still hangs around. He showed me how they used to block out a whole quarter panel by hand with a 12 inch board, no DA sander, just patience and a straight edge. I mean, I've been doing this for 8 years and my arm got tired just watching him. Anyone else feel like we lost something when we switched to all these gizmos, or is it just me?

Honestly, I used to roll my eyes at the whole "old school" thing, figured it was just nostalgia. But watching that guy lay a straight line down with nothing but a sanding block kinda humbled me, you know? There's a level of feel and control there that my DA just can't match, even if it takes twice as long.
